Charlene "Char" Ann Stassi, passed away in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her loving children, in Marysville, CA, on February 16, 2022. Char was born on August 1, 1930, at Rideout Hospital in Marysville, CA. She was the daughter of Charles and Alta Marchal.
Char graduated from Notre Dame Elementary School and Notre Dame High School in Marysville, CA. She was a faithful member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Holy Angels PTA, Lake Francis Resort, Plumas Lake and Peach Tree Golf and Country Clubs, and was also the 1977 Club Captain.
Char had many joys in her life, including golf, but few greater than her passion for music. In the sixth grade, she learned to play the piano. Her talents were amazing; she played the organ for weddings, funerals, and celebrations for over 60 years. She loved accompanying the church choir at Sunday Mass, as well as all Holy Days. For ten years she was the pianist in the band, "The Peach Pits" that entertained at the Peach Tree Invitational.
She met the love of her life, Marysville Giants catcher Robert Stassi, while she was sitting in the stands at the Bryant Field baseball park in the summer of 1947. In September 1949, they were married and celebrated 67 years together, residing in the Yuba-Sutter area. Char previously worked for Attorneys Lloyd Hewitt, James McBride and Ted Winship.
Char's greatest joy was her family and her faith. She touched many lives, never met a stranger, was a people person, and loved to go with her family and friends anywhere and everywhere. She attended all her children, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events, dance recitals and all they participated in, she would always be there.
Survivors include her five children, Robert Stassi Jr. (Kathy), Judy Curtis (Tim), Lori Mejia (Ed), Joanne Stassi, and Jim Stassi (Racquelle); her nine grandchildren, who called her their Nana, Whitney, Sabrina; Jaime, Kelli; Charlotte; Timothy; Brock, Max, and Jake; eleven great-grandchildren, Porter, Cannon, Quinn; Greyson, Gianna; Mila; Macie, Taylor; Jack, Olivia; and Sloane.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stassi; brother George Marchal; infant grandchildren, Tiphanie Stassi and twins, Cameron and Brady Stassi.
