Obituary

Charles Robert "Bob" Carmack, 87, of Rackerby, California, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2022. Bob was born on May 17, 1934, to Charles and Marie Carmack in Cincinnati, OH.

Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia; son, Robert Carmack and wife Shelly; daughter, Rebecca Whitaker and husband Mark; daughter, Carol Jensen; son, John Carmack; 17 grandkids; and 25 great-grandkids.

Although born in Cincinnati, he moved to southern California at age 10. During his younger years he marched in the Rose Bowl Parade and again in the Rose Bowl game while playing the trombone. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He had a long career with Sears and managed the repair department.

Bob moved his family up to northern California in the later 1970's. He enjoyed country living and cultivating a garden when he could keep the deer out. Early spring he'd spend his time panning in the creek and discovered a few nuggets to put in his pocket.

Bob loved playing card games, whether it was a late night of pinochle with his brothers and sisters-in-law or a hot game of cribbage at the dining room table. His love for games didn't stop at cards. He enjoyed playing board games with the family, managing to fool everyone while Balderdashing. Saturdays always included an afternoon of Bingo. He never missed a San Francisco Giants game. A true avid fanatic. He once spent his time, while on vacation, on the upper deck of the cruise ship, on his portable radio listening to the game. Go Giants!

Bob was talented. He could create a pencil sketch portrait of anyone in the room within 30 minutes and then give it to them. Most considered him intelligent. It showed. He was a keen debater and passionate about his topics. You can find many letters to the editor published in some major newspapers. Anyone want to discuss global warming?
