Obituary

Dorothy (Dottie) Jo Finch, age 66, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Rideout Hospital in Marysville after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born October 20, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph and Agnes Sweeney and was the eldest of six children. She is survived by her siblings: Kathy Stevens, Patty Wooldridge, Barbara Rasmussen, Jackie Chandless, and Joe Sweeney.

Dottie's family came to California and she attended various schools throughout the state. She graduated from Hamilton City High School. Before settling down and raising a family she became a flight attendant for American Airlines and then returned to the Yuba-Sutter area where her family was located. She attended Chico State and then went on to earn a Master of Arts in Education. She was a teacher for Marysville Joint Unified School District for 25 years and retired in 2013. She taught at Ella Elementary School in Olivehurst and Kynoch Elementary School in Marysville.

Dottie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Grammie, sister, friend, and teacher always putting others before herself. She was full of life and had the most loving heart. She touched many lives with her vivacious presence. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the joy and love she brought to their lives.

Most importantly, her family meant more to her than anything, especially her three beautiful grandchildren. She was survived by the love of her life for 43 years, Gary Finch; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Heather Finch; daughter and son-in-law, Karyn and Jesse Beaudin; and grandchildren, Wyatt Beaudin, Chase Beaudin and Callan Finch.

Dottie loved vacationing at the beach with her husband, camping, spending time with her family, gardening, whistling, having lunch with friends, going to shows, rooting on her grandsons' at their sporting events, attending school activities, and watching her youngest grandson several days a week. She was always laughing and had a smile that lit up every room. She was an inspiration to her family and everyone in her life. She will be greatly missed.
