Obituary

Faye was born to Elva I. (Nee, Davis) and Dewey Hodges Sr. on December 8, 1942, in Hohenwald, Tennessee. After divorcing, her mom moved to Antioch, California with her children, Dewey; Faye; Ray and Shirley. Faye lived at the family home continuously, throughout attending grade school, High School and graduating at Diablo Valley College. She worked at the Antioch Ledger (Circulation Department), a shoe store, then at Greenwood Pharmacy (Bookkeeper) where she met her future husband, Richard A. Burns. He had just paid his utility bills and was looking at the magazine display. She introduced herself, and both thought each other to be familiar. Indeed, both had attended Diablo Valley College with 1 year of commonality.

One year and a half later, Faye and Richard married on August 26, 1976, in Walnut Creek, CA. They settled in Livermore, CA. He worked at Vallecitos Nuclear Center and Faye at Greenwoods Pharmacy until the birth of their first child, Eric R. Burns in May 1969. Faye took to homemaking adding Richard S. Burns and Kenneth R. Burns. She returned to work for about 4 months at Kmart in 1984 to provide a safety-net in the event her husband was let go by G.E.'s downsizing of Nuclear operations. It happened, however, he was employed at LLNL's Nuclear Device Operations in "Super Block" without loss of a single day of work.

Later, Faye's sons, Eric, married Claudia E. Guard, April 1993, having Erica R. and Brandon S. Burns. Richard S. never married, but had Andrew C. Burns by Erica J. Burgess and Richard "Rickey" Lee Burns by Shannon Moore; Kenneth married May 2015 to Sarah Robinson.

Faye's an exceptional cook and crafts person, taking several blue ribbons at the Alameda County Fairs with her Jellies, Jams, Scare Crows, etc.

She died February 13, 2018, at Rideout Hospital in Marysville, CA after a chronic battle with Diabetes and Congestive Heart Failure.

A viewing will be held at Lipp & Sullivan Funeral Home, 629 D St., Marysville, at 10am and a Funeral Service at 1pm, February 21, 2018, followed by Burial at Peoria Cemetery in Browns Valley, CA.
