Erma A. Foster, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024, at the age of 91. A lifelong area resident, she was a descendant of two pioneer families of Yuba County. She was born November 1, 1932, at the family ranch in the Arboga District of Yuba County, to Agnes McGowan Sutfin and Harold Arthur Sutfin.
For 12 years she attended and graduated from Notre Dame Academy, which was also her mother's alma mater. She earned her Associate of Arts Degree at Yuba College, as well as her Bachelor of Arts and Teaching Credential from Chico State University. She taught at Linda Elementary and Kynock Elementary.
She had been a member of Retired Teachers, American Association of University Women and
Daughters of Leisure.
Erma is survived by her children, Theda Sheffield (Wally), Harold Foster (Becky), Thomas Foster (Debie); grandchildren, Travis Cook (Jordan), Kelsie Cummins (Dj), Sydney Carroll (Will) Bryan Sheffield; great-grand children Stevie Cummins, Tommy Carroll, Poppy Cook; and many cousins; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband, Vernon Foster; son, David Foster; sisters, Margaret
Enders and Ruth Anthony; brothers Harold, Bill and Allen Sutfin; and husband, Leo Distel;
A recitation of the Rosary will be Monday, March 25, 2024, at 7pm at Lipp and Sullivan Funeral
