Frances Doreen Wolverton (nee Springer), Yuba City, 89, passed away peacefully at Adventist Rideout Hospital on July 30, 2022, with her daughter Patt by her side.
She was born in Biggs, CA, July 11, 1933, to Zola (Moak) Springer and William Springer. She was the middle of 5 children.
After graduating Yuba City High School in 1952 she married her love, James B. Wolverton USAF of Henderson, Texas.
She became a well-traveled military wife, living in England three different times over an 18-year period. One time becoming a nominee for Military Wife of the Year. Jim retired from the military in 1971 and they settled in Marysville California.
Doreen was a 27-year Bank of America employee, she volunteered with Yuba City Senior Center, Gleaners, and Crossroads Clothes Closet. She also followed Jim to many venues while he played music for special occasions. This is where Doreen found her love of line dancing.
Doreen has lived for the past 3 1/2 years at Sutter Estates independent living community in Yuba City where she enjoyed many friends and fellow Yuba City High classmates and the wonderful staff. She loved walking her beloved pet and constant companion Lilly.
She was known for always dawning her earrings and lipstick. She had a sweet spirit and an awesome sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughters, Patt Thompson (Kim) and Teresa Oborney; four grandchildren, Jammie Hungrige (Craig), Brittany Thompson Goemann (Reed), Eric Wolverton and Emily Wolverton; 3 great-grandchildren, Devin Hungrige (Emma), Taylor Bybee (Tim) and Afton Goemann. And last but not least three great-grandsons, Waylon James Bybee, Jaxson Dean Bybee and Elias Steven Hungrige. Doreen enjoyed having 5 generations able to celebrate many happy occasions together and she was a light in all of their lives.
Doreen was preceded in death by her husband James Wolverton, parents Zola and William, sister Wilma Wormley and her big brother Wayne Springer by only a few days.
She was also survived by her brother Delbert (Joanne) Springer; sister Leotta Martin; brother-in-law Jimmy L. Wolverton (Pat); and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Crossroads Community Church, 445 B Street, Yuba City, Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11:00.
