Former Mayor, Veteran, and Long Time Resident, Frank Nisonger died at 91.

Frank Nisonger passed away peacefully on January 7th, with family at his side. Born May 30, 1921, in Mason City, IA, he moved with his family as an infant to Oklahoma. Then, in pursuit of a better life, the family joined many others in their journey westward and relocated to Marysville in 1929. He worked many different jobs in his youth, including selling newspapers around town, sodas at local events, and peaches to those traveling through town on the train. He also had many adventures as an elevator operator at the Hotel Marysville. He began working for Pacific Telephone in 1941, and joined the Marine Corps in 1942. He served his country proudly until 1946, seeing many battles in the Pacific during World War II. Following the war, he returned to the phone company, retiring in 1982. He was a lifetime member and past Commander of the local VFW Post 948. Frank also served on the Marysville City Council from 1964 to 1972, including two terms as mayor in 1966 and 1970.

Frank was an avid fisherman who spent many hours trolling local rivers, and more recently a frequent bingo player. Most of all, he was a dedicated family man.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Vann and Margaret Dovell; one brother, Edward Nisonger; and his wife and partner of 57 years, Violet Marie "Mickey" Nisonger.

His proudest accomplishments were his four children: Susan Zilverberg of Colorado Springs, CO, Terry Davis of Marysville, Frank Jr. of Elk Grove, CA, and Patty Nisonger of Elk Grove, CA. He also had five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Lipp and Sullivan Chapel on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 11:00am.
