Grace Margaret Bath DeForest, 88, passed peacefully into eternal life on July 7, 2011 at her home in Loma Rica. Born on her family's ranch in Ash Valley (Lassen County) on December 23, 1922. Grace was the oldest of five children. She graduated from Adin High School and then went on to graduate from Sacramento Junior College. Grace married Chesley DeForest on November 24, 1945. They were the proud parents of five children and became residents of Yuba County in 1952. She was a member of the Loma Rica Community Church, the Yuba Sutter Cowbelles, the Intermountain Cattlewomen and the Loma Rica Grange. Grace touched the lives of everyone she met with her kind, and gracious spirit. Her tender smile and her loving nature will truly be missed by all who knew her. Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Chesley DeForest; her mother and father, Thad and Amy Bath; her brothers, Fred and Rich Bath; and her sister, Martha McNeall. Survivors include three sons, Tom DeForest (Kathy) of Adin, Paul DeForest (Karin) of Ash Valley and Charles DeForest (Becky) of Wheatland; two daughters, Cheryl DeForest of Marysville and Beverly Tipton (Bo) of Loma Rica; one brother, John Bath of Bonanza, Oregon; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled at 11am Mon., July 18 at the Loma Rica Community Church, 11234 Loma Rica Rd., Loma Rica with Pastor Wayne Vincent officiating. Burial will be in the Adin Cemetery.
