Obituary

Howard Keith Hardie of Marysville, CA passed away February 2, 2012 at the Yuba City Care Center. Born January 19, 1927 in Williams, CA he was a lifetime resident of the Yuba Sutter area.

He was raised and educated in Marysville before serving aboard the USS Intrepid during W.W.II. Following in his father John's footsteps, Howard began his career with the Division of Highways in 1947. He was involved in numerous major highway projects in his beloved "Sierras". He retired after 41 years in 1988 as an Associate Highway Engineer with Cal- Trans.

Howard was affiliated with SIRS, PECG, was an honorary member of the Quarter Century Club and the Class of '45 Marysville High School Reunions.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Barbara "Bobbie" Hardie of Marysville, CA; son, Dr. Michael H. Hardie (Joseph) of Carson City, NV; daughter, M. Mointette Le Brie (Roger) Reno, NV; brothers: Kenneth Hardie of Arcata, CA and Alan Hardie of Thousand Oaks, CA; sister, Nancy Greenhelgh of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Coleman Hardie; and a brother, John David Hardie.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst, CA with Pastor Al Jolley of New Beginning Weslyan Church Marysville officiating. A visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Lipp and Sullivan Chapel on Sunday, February 12, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to Fremont-Rideout Hospice.
