Rev. Ira Burns, 91, went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2013 at his residence in Wheatland, CA. Born January 14, 1922 to Rev. Grover Cleve and Nerva Jane Burns in Eufala, Oklahoma. He was a resident of the Yuba-Sutter area for 73 years.

Ira came from Oklahoma to California in the 1940's. He was a self-employed farmer who loved to grow peaches, almonds and walnuts. He loved to work with his cattle and horses.

Ira started preaching at the age of 21 and has been an active Pastor for over 65 years, preaching revivals and pastoring the local church. His love for the church was his passion.

He is survived by his loving wife Pauline Burns, celebrating 73 years of marriage; five daughters: Louise Pankey, Mary Jane Burns, Paulette Patrick, Naomi Reynolds, and Rebecca Lowery; four sons: Rev. Roger Burns, Tim Burns, Bryan Burns and Rev. John Burns; 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; and two sisters: Geraldine Blackshire and Nellie Pankey.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Grover Cleve and Nerva Jane Burns, one sister Mary Poppino, three brothers: Odie Burns, Woodrow Burns and G.C. Burns; three grandsons: Todd Pankey, Doug Cline and Christopher Gregory.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Wheatland Community Fellowship Church in Wheatland, CA, with his sons, Pastor John Burns, Pastor Roger Burns, and his grandson Rev. Michael Burns officiating. Visitation will start one hour before the services at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheatland Community Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 1404 Wheatland, CA 95692. Funeral Services are under the direction of Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Directors.
