Joann Harris-Burns was born in Norman, Oklahoma on May 8, 1934 and passed away in Marysville, CA, on October 31, 2011, with her family at her side.

Preceded in death by her husband Michael Burns; and her parents, Logan & Glossie Harris.

She is survived by a large loving family of four brothers, Richard and Claudia Harris of Yuba City, David and Linda Harris of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Bill Harris of Marysville, Glen and Lanny Harris of Marysville; and three sisters, Wanda and Sterling Carter of Wilton, CA, Sue McCaslin of Carmichael, CA, and Rose and Harold Ricketts of Fair Oaks, CA. Joann was a devoted aunt to 5 loving nieces and 8 loving nephews, Leslie Toler, Hilary Dorsett, Courtney Johnston, Amanda Harris, Jesse Harris, and her nephews were Richard Harris Jr., Mark Harris, Greg Harris, Tom Carter, Tim Carter, Joe Carter, Allen McCaslin, Brian Ricketts and Bill Harris Jr. She will be missed by family and friends.

Joann was a long time resident of Marysville where she spent many years working for Dipple Business Equipment and Baldwin Construction Co. Joan lived a few years in Penn Valley with her husband where they enjoyed house boating, camping and fishing. She was also a well known crafter and participated in many craft fairs throughout Northern California.

After the death of her husband she relocated back to Marysville to support her brothers Bill and Glen Harris in their community service activities. Joan also volunteered her time working in the Pink Trunk.

Per her request, private family services will be held at the Veteran Cemetery in Dixon where she will join her husband.

Her wishes were that any contributions be made in her name to the Cancer Society .
