John (Jay) Whitten Cottrell, 83 of Wheatland passed away July 30, 2012.

He was born on May 23, 1929 in Oklahoma and had been a Yuba Sutter resident for 60 years. He worked as the Water Treatment Plant Operator for 33 years at McClellen Air Force Base in Sac., CA.

Survivors include his son, Lonnie Cottrell of Wheatland, CA, brother, Charles Cottrell of Coalinga, CA, sisters, Christine May of Modesto, CA, Shirley Adams if Oklahoma and Willie Mae Elms of Fresno, CA. Grandchildren, Scott Parker, Lance Cottrell, Amie Cottrell, Brieanna Cottrell, and Casey Cottrell; and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Cottrell, son, John Wayne Cottrell and daughters, Linda Marie Cottrell and Frances Anne Cottrell.

Visitation will be from 2pm to 8pm on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Lipp and Sullivan Chapel. Services will be held at 11am on Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Wheatland Community Fellowship Church of God, 4753 Wheatland Rd., Wheatland, CA with Pastor John Burns officiating. Burial will be at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland, CA.
