"The Great Mr. Leonard T. Wright" 81, passed away on September 18, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Born February 14, 1930 to Arthur and Molly Wright of Rivera, Texas, he was the 3rd youngest of 11 children.

He enlisted in the Army at the age of 16 and made it a lifelong career of 22 years from 1946 to 1968. He was a Veteran of three wars, W.W.II, Korea, and Vietnam. Leonard earned his Master Jump Wings and was in the 101st Screaming Eagles at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. While stationed at Mainz, Germany, he also went to a German Jump School where he received his German Jump Wings. During the height of the Vietnam War he was stationed at Ft. Ord, California as First Sergeant, where his motto was "A-4-2 Can Do" and his key word was "Function". As a First Sergeant, his company broke many records and he earned the name "Top Dog". Leonard was respected and loved by many. His warm, witty, and generous personality drew people to him and he was a role model for many. After retiring from the military he owned local gas stations and drove trucks for E.I. Brandt Trucking, after which he retired to his ranch in Dobbins where he raised cattle.

Leonard was preceded in death by his first wife of 28 years, Irene Goldie Landstedt, and second wife of 17 years, Mary Jane Baker, his only son Stephen Wright; granddaughter, Charity Wagner; and great-great grandson, Daniel McFarland.

He is survived by three brothers; one sister; his grandson whom he raised, Stephen Wright; 3 daughters, Carolyn Jones, Katherine Fetty, and Teresa Simpson; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Lipp & Sullivan Chapel. Graveside service will follow at Keystone Cemetery. A pot luck dinner will be held at Alcouffe Community Center, 9185 Marysville Road, Oregon House.
