Maria Z. Castro, born in Puerta del Monte, Mexico as Maria Zenaida Paola Raya. (Zena) was dearly loved by everyone who got to know her, but especially loved by her family. She was a woman who felt deeply and loved intensely. Her children remember her as a woman who stopped at nothing to care for and protect them. Her community loved and respected her as an upstanding woman, a devoted wife and one who always had a kind word of support and wise advice. Her grandchildren remember her as "Abuelita". She looked after them and was a devoted grandmother. "They don't make women like (Abuelita), claim her grandchildren."

On Monday, May 27th Zena joined her loving husband Francisco who had been patiently waiting for her in Heaven.

Zena will be missed by many but the legacy she left will continue in her children, grandchildren and many generations to follow.

She is survived by 7 children, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 2:00-5:00p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Lipp and Sullivan Chapel. Rosary will be held at 7:00p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marysville, CA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Juan Perez officiating. Burial will be at Sierra View Memorial Park, Olivehurst, CA.
