Retired M/Sgt. Robert E Lee 79, died August 19, 2011 at home surrounded by his wife and children. Robert had been on Hospice for the past few months and his death was peaceful. Robert the eldest of 6 siblings was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1932. In 1952, he began his career in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Germany, he met and married his wife, Renate. During his 26 year career, Robert and Renate lived throughout the United States and Europe. Robert was a gifted athlete and played on many baseball and softball teams connected to USAF base leagues. While stationed in Germany, Robert traveled throughout Europe as he played the position of outfielder for the Ramstein base team. He was a lifetime Boston Red Sox fan, a passionate reader and a history buff. Robert was a self-taught artist specializing in oil paintings of nature and landscape scenes. He was known for his quick wit and often shared his sense of humor with those closest to him. During his retirement, Robert enjoyed antiquing with his wife. Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Renate; daughters, Maria Teplansky of Tehachapi, CA; Christina Blashill of Tehachapi, CA; Susan Catledge of Gridley, CA; Kathleen (Tootie) Celaya of Folsom, CA; and son, Patrick Lee of Sacramento, CA. He is proceeded in death by his father, James Lee; mother, Marie Louise Lee, and younger brother, James Lee. He is also survived by four siblings, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He will be missed. Graveside services will be held with Military Honors on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, CA at 11:00 AM.
