Sandra Kay Cates, 79 of Arboga, CA went to be with the Lord November 1, 2022 after a lengthy battle with dementia. She was born March 12, 1943 in Bakersfield, CA to Betty and Charley Langston. Sandy grew up in Rio Oso, CA after losing her father at the Normandy Invasion on D Day 1944. She married the love of her life Bill Cates on July 20, 1958 in Reno, NV.
Sandy loved to travel and she and Bill spent many miles on the road in their motorhome. Her favorite places were Yellowstone National Park, WY where they spent most summers and Quartzsite, AZ where they spent most winters until their health declined. Sandy also loved spending time at the family cabin in Dunsmuir, CA. While she loved to travel, spending time with her family was always her number one priority. She and Bill owned and operated Bill's Casing Tong Service for 32 years. They made their home in Arboga for 55 years.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Bill Cates, her daughter Terrie Lemere (Jimmy) of Arboga, CA; grandchildren, Summer Dunlap (David) of Williams, CA; Dustin Rose of Arboga, CA; Taryn Schiedeck (John) of Bastrop, TX; Jamie Lemere (Allison) of Yuba City, CA; her true pride and joy great grandchildren, Colton Schiedeck, Ryatt Dunlap and Avery Schiedeck; her sister Debbie (Steve) McGarrah of Bakersfield, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charley Langston, Betty Hudson, Ross Hudson and her daughter Susie Rose.
The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Silvia Lopez and her entire family for the love, devotion and care provided to our wife, mother and grandmother over the past 3 years. Words alone are not enough to express our appreciation.
