Virginia "Ginny" Marie Deatsch passed away July 13, 2026. She was born September 26, 1936, to parents, Joe and Mary Bettencourt of Chico, CA.
She was raised in Chico, CA, and attended Notre Dame Catholic School and Chico State University for two years.
In 1956, she married Howard S. Deatsch. They had two children, Robert Deatsch (Mary), and DeAnna Taylor (Michael).
She was a grandmother to Mason Deatsch, Paige Garnick (Scott), Brandon Taylor (Makenzie), and Zachary, Jacob, and Sarah Larsen.
~She was a great-grandmother to Remy, Conlan, and Halston Taylor, and Taylor and Ryan Garnick. She had one brother, Joe Bettencourt (Sandee) of Redding, CA.
At 20 years old, Virginia moved to Marysville, CA. She enjoyed being active in the community and joined several organizations including the Peachtree Country Club, Alpha Sigma Sorority, Gamma Chapter, and St. Isidore Church.
She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Pink Lady for the hospital. She played bridge with two different groups.
She belonged to the Yuba City Racquet Club, where she played tennis with the Wednesday group. She has enjoyed all these friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Howard S. Deatsch.
Virginia suffered from cancer for many years. We would like to thank all the caregivers, Carolle Stone, Janet Brendlin, Rob Deatsch, DeAnna Taylor, and Sally Combo, who came every Sunday for a mass and communion, she enjoyed every visit.
Rosary services will be held at Lipp & Sullivan Funeral Home in Marysville, CA, on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 5 PM. There will be a dinner after the rosary.
Burial will be held on August 10, 2026, at 11 AM at Chico Cemetery. Friends and family are encouraged to join.
