Obituary

Walter Charles Wood, 80, of Linda, passed away on March 15, 2012. He was born on May 26, 1931 in Temperance, Michigan to Tamra and Eva Wood.

Walter graduated from Grant High School in Sacramento, where he excelled in agricultural studies. He served in the Army from 1951-1952, seeing service in Korea. In 1952 Walt began working for Marysville Plumbing where he eventually became the manager.

While working for Marysville Plumbing he was a volunteer fireman for the Linda Fire Department until full time employees were authorized. He was one of the first full time fireman for the district, eventually serving as a captain and fire marshall. Walt was named as 'Fireman of the Year' by his peers in 1966 and 1967. He retired from the fire service after 36 years. He then went on to work for the County Florist for 2 years before fully retiring.

Walt is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara, four children; Dawn, Terry, Walter, and Penny (nee Wood), four stepchildren; Daryl, Dale, Gary, and Cheryl (nee Ethington), a brother; Lynn, 25 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one step child, Lynn, three brothers, and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held on March 19, 2012 at 11 am at the Latter-Day Saints Church (Mormon), at 1997 N. Beale Rd.
