Obituary

Bill, 71, passed away June 24, 2012. He was born January 15, 1941 and was a lifetime resident of Yuba-Sutter.

Bill graduated from Marysville High School in 1959. He went on to earn a B.S. degree from Chico State, where he graduated from in 1964.

He was a Yuba Co. Probation Officer, Director of Bi-County Juvenile Hall, and Social Worker for Sutter Co. Dept. of Human Services. After his retirement in 2000, he remained active in his community.

Bill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Sirs. He was also a member and Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 1869, a member and Faithful Navigator of Santa Maria Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and a former District Deputy for Knights of Columbus.

He also served on the Grand Jury in 2002 and 2003. Bill wrote a book about the 150 year history of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, LaVerne, daughter Noele (Michael) DeSafey of Roseville, son David Dodson of Yuba City, granddaughter Jessica Hutchinson, student at St. Isidore Catholic School, and his sister Noela Phillips of Oroville.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 pm on Monday, July 2, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Godwin Xavier officiating.

Private internment will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fremont-Rideout Hospice, 939 Live Oak Blvd., Yuba City, 95991.
